Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about using TierPOP's image tier list maker and text tier list maker — from adding items to exporting your finished ranking.

General

What is TierPOP?

TierPOP is a free online tier list maker with two tools: an image tier list maker for ranking pictures and photos, and a text tier list maker for ranking words, names, and emojis. Both run entirely in your browser — no login, no install.

Is TierPOP free? Can I use it commercially?

Yes. TierPOP is completely free for both personal and commercial use — no hidden fees, paid tiers, or signup requirements.

Do I need to register an account?

No. Both tools work without any registration or login. Open the page and start ranking immediately.

Should I use the image or the text tier list maker?

Pick based on your items. Things with recognizable visuals — game covers, movie posters, food photos — work best in the image tier list maker. Abstract or wordy items — ideas, names, book titles, habits — are faster in the text tier list maker, since you skip image hunting entirely. Not sure how to start at all? Read the step-by-step guide.

Image Tier List Maker

How do I add images?

Click the file selector below the tier list and pick any pictures from your device — you can select multiple images at once. They land in the Unranked Items pool, ready to drag into tiers.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. TierPOP is a static site — your images are processed entirely in your browser and never leave your device.

How do I remove an image I added by mistake?

Hover over the image — a small × button appears in its top-right corner. Click it to delete just that image.

Can I mix images and text in one tier list?

The two tools are separate — the image tool ranks pictures and the text tool ranks words. A common workaround is to make text labels part of the images themselves before uploading, or simply keep everything text-only.

Text Tier List Maker

How do I add many items at once?

Click Batch Add, then type or paste your list with one item per line. Everything is added in one click — much faster than adding items one by one with the per-tier + button.

Can I use emojis?

Yes. Words, names, phrases, and emojis all work as items, and they render correctly in the exported PNG.

How do I rename a text item or change its color?

Click the item to open the edit popup, where you can type a new name and pick a background color from the palette.

How do I delete a text item?

Hover over the item — a red delete button appears in its corner. Click it to remove that item.

Tiers & Customization

How do I rename a tier or change its color?

Click directly on the tier's label — the colored block on the left (S, A, B…). A popup opens where you can type a new label and pick a new background color. Wondering why S ranks above A? See what S tier means.

How do I add or delete tiers?

Click the gear (Settings ⚙) button at the right end of any tier row. From there you can add a new tier before or after the current one, clear its contents, or delete it entirely.

How do I reorder tiers?

Use the up and down arrow buttons at the right end of each tier row to move it one position at a time.

How do I clear one tier or start over completely?

To empty a single tier, open its Settings ⚙ menu and choose Clear current tier. To reset the whole list, click the Clear Data button below the tier list.

Saving & Exporting

How do I export my tier list as an image?

Click Save & Download. A popup shows a PNG preview of your finished tier list — click Download to save it, then share it anywhere: Discord, Reddit, X, group chats.

Can I download without a watermark?

Yes. A small TierPOP watermark is added by default, but you can turn it off with one checkbox in the download popup — completely free, no signup needed.

What if I close the page by accident?

TierPOP caches your tier list in your browser's LocalStorage. Reopen the same page in the same browser and your work will still be there.

Why did my tier list disappear?

Because your list lives in the browser, it won't follow you to a different browser, device, or private/incognito window — and clearing browser site data removes it too. To keep a permanent copy, export your list as a PNG.

Can I undo a mistake?

Yes. Use the Undo and Redo buttons below the tier list to step backward or forward through your recent changes.

What is demo mode?

Demo mode enlarges the tier list on a black background — ideal for presenting your ranking to a group or recording your screen. Click Enter demo mode below the tier list, optionally accept the full-screen prompt, and click again to exit.

Data & Privacy

Does TierPOP store my information?

No. TierPOP is built with static code and stores nothing server-side. Your tier list data — including any images — stays in your browser only. For details, see the privacy policy.
